A Recipe and a Rant…

I made a coffee cake today. It’s the second time I’ve made this recipe and Paul went nuts over it, so I made another one. I got the recipe on my “Recipe-A-Day desk calendar”.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake

I wonder if I can remember the recipe because I’m in my chair and the recipe is out in the kitchen…

SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE

Topping (which is really in the center):

1 cup chopped nuts

2-4 TBSP cinnamon

4 TBSP brown sugar

Ingredients:

2 cups All Purpose Flour

2 eggs

2 cups sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1 cup sour cream

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

2 sticks (1 cup) butter

Cream together eggs, softened butter, and sugar. Add the sour cream, vanilla, flour, baking powder, and salt and blend together.

Grease and flour a baking pan (bundt if you have it).

Pour half the batter in the pan.

Sprinkle the topping on top of the batter.

Pour the other half of the batter on top of the topping.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 55-60 minutes.

Let cool. Take out of pan. Store in refrigerator.

So that’s one thing.

“What?”

I’m kind of fuming right now about WebShots, where I keep my pictures. I just uploaded some pics today and there is a giant pop-up saying they are changing over to Smile.Webshots.com in late November. All services will be much different, I don’t think I can link to them anymore, and even though they say all my pictures will be automatically transferred, I don’t believe it for one second. But I asked that they do it, and they also said they would send all my photos to my desktop in a zip file but I know nothing about how to deal with zip files.

I have over 5000 photos with them and I pay money for premium membership. This really pisses me off!!! I think from December on we will only be able to “look” at pictures, not do things to them, like crop etc., and no share them in blogs. You will even need to pay to just “view” photos… I suppose it’s been a long time going like it was, and I’ve always liked Webshots myself. I will have to look for a new photo stasher. I have a Flikr account but I never really liked them that much, but maybe I’ll revisit them and see what’s what over there.

I’ll take suggestions if anyone has a good photo stasher that lets you control things and link to them, as well.

Cheers (but jeers to Webshots!),

Bex

Anna, it’s not supposed to TASTE like coffee, it just goes good with a cuppa… that’s all. And boy does it EVER go good with coffee…can’t wait for tomorrow morning now.

Thanks everyone about the photo places. I see my friend Sandy from Iowa has started one at photobucket so I will try them tomorrow.

Yes, I use photobucket and haven’t had any complaints. There doesn’t seem to be any coffee in the coffee cake. Also, I still can’t get Caerphilly for my cheese fritters so I tried feta tonight and it was good. xx

15,590. That’s how many photos I have stored over the years in Flickr. Love ’em.

Thank you, ladies, for your comments and suggestions. I use Flikr for a few pictures but I went there to upload one photo and it took me 15 minutes to figure out what to do. Anyway, I will check out Photobucket.

BTW, if anyone printed out my recipe here for the coffee cake, at first I had some ingredients wrong and I’d left off the sour cream. It’s all right now.

    sorry…..bout…..that…..

I use Photobucket mainly to store pictures (including cartoons) that I want to share. I’m not really proficient with photos, and I don’t try to edit them with Photobucket.

For my editing needs, Paint is sufficient.

I hate it when web companies charge you for their services and then make changes to where they are not easily accessible. You turned me on to Flickr. They have a few quirks but I have found my way around them. For free, I can’t complain too much. I don’t know, right now, how many photos I have there. I do know I have not made their monthly allotment. So for now, I am happy with them.

Try “Photobucket”. I’ve used that for years, and it’s free! I’d recommend them over “Flickr!” and any other photo sharing websites. Besides, you can edit photos on that website and use special effects. It’s not “Photoshop”, but it is a website you should check out.
