Mapping Out The World For Fun

I stumbled upon this web site just now and wanted to share it. Below are a few of them, see all 32 at the web page:

32 Imaginative and Beautifully Designed Maps

Click the above image for the entire 32 maps

People are so talented, aren’t they? You’ve gotta love the imagination that goes into these. The Library Map is very cool…

The Meat Map is hysterical…

and I really love that Leggo’s map as well as those paper-cut maps, beautiful of London.

Having done some crochet work in large format myself…

… I can really appreciate this crafted street map…

But for some reason, I am enthralled by the last map, #32, showing the wind flow all over the United States. Cool.

I’ve always loved antique maps. In fact, this one…

…of the USA is especially gorgeous, in my opinion. That would make a great wall-hanging.

Well, we have the Inauguration festivities to watch today and I’m doing just that. Stay well, friends, and enjoy this holiday, along with the Inauguration of the President. I hear his speech is limited to 20 minutes, which is a small blessing.

Happy Martin Luther King Day, Happy Inauguration Day, and have a happy Monday if you can, as well.

Cheers,

Bex & Co.

Portrait of Glorious

“The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog…

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world…

When all other friends desert, he remains.”

I love maps. My Middle Daughter loves globes. I bought her a globe with the countries made of natural stone or minerals, each native to the country. I hope she still has it.

I recently saw a map of our city from about 1860. Many of the streets were not yet named, but the houses were — Mrs. Smith’s house, Mrs. Brown’s house…
