So much music, so little time …

Where have I been all this time?

How come I missed this lady?

Who is she?

She’s AMY SPEACE, that’s who.

Strictly by happenstance, I stumbled onto an image of one of her albums (“How to Sleep in a Stormy Boat”) while over at amazon, so I just, for the heck-of-it, clicked on the link and then went down to her list of songs and clicked on “listen” – wow! (The more I listen to her sing, the more I hear shades of Joan Baez – in her heyday – in her voice. Very nice pitch and tone.)

I love her voice!

Where has she been all my life?

Better late than never, I suppose. So I have just this minute discovered Ms. Amy Speace and here, for your listening pleasure, are two songs of hers from YouTube. (Does anyone remember what we did BEFORE YouTube?)

Amy Speace singing “Ghost”:

and one more, “It’s Too Late to Call It A Night”:

Oh my, this is so nice. I am torn, in a way. I have way too much “stuff” here and the last thing I needed was another CD, but I am weak-as-water so am now waiting for her album to come in a few days’ time.

This was a comment left on YouTube by another person who had a similar experience to mine:

“Good grief!!–I must have been living in a cave! How could I have missed knowing about Amy Speace until today?! I came across her singing on a PBS program and was struck dumb as I stood in the middle of my living room listening to her voice. After the program was over, I came to YouTube and found her here. She is amazing. I will be watching and listening for any future engagements she has on TV, stage, radio, or wherever.”

My sentiments exactly. “Wow” just isn’t enough but it will have to do. Check out Amy’s web site here.

Listen to her NPR interview!

Cheers for a World full of Great Music,
