One Small Step for the Team

Fenway Park, Boston, MA

04 October 2013

Above, before the start of the first post-season playoff game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Boston Red Sox and fans pay tribute to the victims and heroes of the Boston Marathon bombings at Fenway Park in Boston.

The fact that our Red Sox are even playing in a post-season game is amazing to us here. To win the first game 12-2 is even more amazing considering our last four games were losers. We got a few lucky breaks in the game and took advantage of them. Tampa Bay will not go down easily so today, again, we face off with them at Fenway. Having the “home field advantage,” I believe, helped big-time in our win today. So onward and upward we go. From “last to first” we are moving through the post-season now and, hopefully, our beloved Red Sox will prevail.

Go Sox!

Even if we don’t go all the way in this endeavor, just the fact that we have made it this far is uplifting to all of us fans who have stuck with our team through thick and thin these last couple of years. The team we have now just seems magical to me.

Cheers for our team!

It’s in every one of us to be wise;

Find your heart, open up both your eyes.

We can all know every thing without ever knowing why.

It’s in every one of us, by and bye.

Haven’t watched or followed baseball or any pro-sports for years other than a live game in SF a year ago against LA. I don’t disparage the excitement and enthusiasm others get from viewing the game, but somehow lost my passion for it over the years. Otherwise, Go Sox!

Just for the record, the Sox topped Tampa Bay again yesterday, 7-4, in the 2nd of 5 games. All we need to advance are 3 wins in this series, so next stop: Tampa Bay Monday for game 3, and hopefully a Red Sox sweep.

Not sure what team would be up next – we just have to get this series won & done first.

sorry to hear about a-rod. I would rather see him move ahead.

    Yeah for for the Sox.

  4. Bex says:

Poor Eric… if your pleasure is following A-Rod, you have my deepest sympathies… he’s a piece of work, and not in a good way. Sorry, too, that you are a Yankee fan, although I would be the last one to deny you your right to love them… I just don’t see how you CAN any longer. But then again, I loved the Sox even when they were splashing around in the tank, so there you go. The heart is not always ruled by the head…

  5. Eric Mayer says:

That’s all very well but as a Yankee fan I have the pleasure of…uh…following A-Rod suing everyone. Sheesh.
