It seems that if you have a “hotmail” email address, you cannot sign up here at JournalScape to be notified by email of new entries (see the GET EMAIL UPDATES link above).
I have figured this out because my friend Sandy was not getting notifications even though she had tried signing up many times. She used to get them but a while ago they stopped coming to her. On Kenny’s advice, she checked her spam folder but they were not in there. Then I asked her to use another (gmail) addy she had and sure enough, it went through fine and she got signed up with that.
So I have to deduce that “hotmail” is the problem. My question to you is – have any of you tried signing up with JournalScape for email notifications using a “hotmail” address? If so, were you successful in doing so?
I looked at my notify list and not one person has “hotmail” on there. That’s when I got suspicious. Now I’m convinced that “hotmail” is the problem but I don’t know why.
If anyone has an answer to this, both Kenny Wyland and I would love to know it.
Thanks for any light you might shed on this as-yet unsolved mystery.
Cheers,
Bex

Update:
Another friend, Anna, can’t sign up for notifies either and she has Hotmail too.
I wrote to Kenny and he wrote this back:
So we’ll let Kenny see what he can do.

I had Hot Mail long ago and had trouble with them in signing up for things plus, I received lots of spam mail through them. I’m in agreement with Harriet about the big companies battling each other and making changes without telling us about the changes.

Hmmmm, very interesting Harriet… thanks for that info. It’s as I suspected, maybe, that the problem lies with Hotmail — at least I figured it out, it was driving me nuts.

I don’t know what’s different about Hotmail, but I had problems with it in the past. More recently, I had problems with the msn news page (same owner?); I had it eliminated, and it will no longer come up accidentally.
Several of these big companies or their subsidiaries seem to be battling each other, which is a helluva way to run any company.
