All I Have to Do… is Dream, Dream, Dream

Phil Everly died yesterday (on the right below).

He and brother Don were huge in my youthful days – their music goes deep into my soul and brings up such wonderful memories… I will never forget them…

These are some of my personal favorites.

All I Have to do is Dream:

Crying in the Rain:

Love Hurts:

I am grateful this music is still with us and can be enjoyed even now that we are all turned gray. Phil – you did good and you are missed!

(I first danced “slow and close” to the music of these guys.)

Cheers for the greats in music, gone but never forgotten,

It’s in every one of us to be wise;

Find your heart, open up both your eyes.

We can all know every thing without ever knowing why.

It’s in every one of us, by and bye.

    These were songs I learned to love because my mom listened to them (she was about 10 years older than you, Bex). It’s sad, losing people with great artistic gifts. They connect to your lives in such a strong way.

    Em, what a great personal story about Phil Everly. I am on the hunt now for my CD of their music… I need to hear them on a good CD player and not just my laptop!

    Oh, brings back memories of the 45 record of “Bye Bye Love” that I played over and over ………… Loved that duo. You know you are of a certain age when you keep hearing of beloved artists leaving us far too frequently.

    I was crushed when I read this. A girlfriend and I did a road trip to Nashville and while there and Phil Everly came in to the bar we were in and sat in with the band and sang a few songs. Wow. The Everlys were always one of my favorite duos and I know how old I am because I know all the words to their songs!

  5. I loved Wake up Little Suzie, which we giggly renamed Wake up Little Snoozie. I swear that my chest tightens with heart-grabbing joy and grief when I recall the magic the Everly Brothers brought to my life. *sigh* I want it to stop… this passage of time that takes and takes and takes – to be only succored with recall.
