Shout-Out Sunday No. 8 – Of Old Friends… and New Ones

(There are two parts to this entry. Please read down a ways to find the second part.)

Part 1:

The web site I have chosen for Shout-Out Sunday for today, 23 February 2014, is:

All about me (Donna) – A Story of Hope

Other parts to her story:

Continuation, Part 1, The Campsite Shuffle

Continuation, Part 2, Stubborn Takes Over

Continuation, Part 3, The Reason

This is not a 5 minute read. It is an incredible story of a woman’s journey from almost hopelessness to her current day life as an online DIY blogger. I have subscribed to her blog, called Funky Junk Interiors, for a while now. I love decorating blogs anyway, but Donna’s blog is a bit different in that she loves to find old things (thus the “funky junk”) and turn them into treasures. She seems very expert at doing this, and I have learned a lot from her.

The other day when I was reading her current blog entry, I happened to click on her “About” link at the top of her home page. Sometimes people put interesting information about themselves in those “About” pages and other people just don’t bother with them much.

Donna is in that first group of people. Wow. Her “About” page, which is my Shout-Out Sunday web site for this week, was one of the most amazing stories I have ever read.

Give yourself an hour when you have nothing planned. She documents her story with loads of photos so it may take up a whole morning, as it did for me! All I know is that once I began reading her story of how she ended up with this amazing DIY blog, I could not stop for anything. My dogs wanted to go out during this read but I said “No – you will just have to wait!” (They waited but not happily). My Paul came in and wanted to talk about something but I said “How about later, honey?” because her story was so engrossing I could not put it away.

It is a story of hope. This is something I really need today, at this moment in time, after what happened to my darling friend, Emily, the other day. I have been dwelling on her death non-stop here, and rather than sinking into this quick-sand of depression, I needed a hand to grasp onto, to pull me up out of the mire.

Donna’s story does that for me, and I hope it will touch you, as well, in a good way.

Part 2:

I also want to include something extra here – following the horrific events of the past few days concerning my friend, Emily Fricia. I will not dwell on the morbid thoughts surrounding her untimely death two days ago, but wanted to offer you a bit more of her writing from her older archives at WordPress when she first started journaling online. (I find that Em may have had a blog at Diaryland, but I have never seen that and if I find it, I will include it here for you.)

About Emily

Getting Started (08 June 2002) – Her first entry at WordPress.

And I found it:

Em’s original journal at Diaryland.

See for yourself what a thoughtful and caring person she was from her own writing. I am going to miss that lady so very much.

And one more thing, just a personal message to my “Pod Bud” (you know who you are!) – Happy Birthday, you beautiful lady! With all my love today and always!

Be good to yourselves and let your loved ones know you love them,

Bex

Find your heart, open up both your eyes.

We can all know every thing without ever knowing why.

It’s in every one of us, by and bye.

Thanks Reens and Sandy… I wish I’d never said that about the comments now. Sorry… I don’t always comment either in blogs… I’m just going thru a bad time right now. I love all of you.

  2. I may not have left a comment when first read – but I wanted to read all the links first. I haven’t read all the links, but here’s my comment: I enjoyed her photos and journaling.
