In case anyone here didn’t get my email note this morning, I am deactivating my Facebook account as of this morning.
I’m hoping that it will have a positive effect on my computer which has been running quite sluggish lately, really ever since I joined FB. A friend was having trouble also and when she deleted FB, her computer seemed to be fixed. So I’m giving it a try too. Sorry about this, but I really don’t use FB much and don’t “need” it. I’d rather have a well-functioning computer than FB any day.
Thanks,
Bex

Tops, I am going to look into Avast. I don’t want to resume on FB but I am curious about Avast. Thanks for sharing.
I did not play games on FB or use any apps. either.
Let us know Bex if it helped. I am curious.

Like Reenie and, I assume, Maggie, I’ve never had Facebook effect my computer at all. But then again I don’t play the games and I never download any apps, as FB apps are notorious for both viruses and bugs.
I also have one of the highly rated virus scanners on my computer. It’s called Avast and is great. DH and I have had McAffee and some of the other big name brands but we absolutely love and trust Avast.

I just responded to your email. Nora has had long running, chronic issues with FB. You two are the only people I know that have had that problem. It just doesn’t make sense to me but I would do the very same thing if it improved computer operation.
I enjoy FB a lot because it keeps me connected with friends I’ve known throughout the years and across the country. It’s a community koffee klatch for me – a social event. I have an uncanny ability to ignore the ads or silly political pontifications of others – people I adore but might not be copasetic regarding politics or dietary choices. :))) Facebook isn’t for everyone, but it connects me in a life that would be utterly isolated most days.
Nora is so beloved on FB and is desperately missed when she deactivates, but a misbehaving computer is not worth the aggravation.
The ONLY time I’ve had trouble over the years with a sluggish computer is when I installed Norton and then tried MacAfee. They were both costly and my computer operations nearly came to a halt. So, I guess it’s different for everyone.
Hope your computer is happily humming! xo
P.S. I eventually ditched the pricey anti virus softwares and upon my tech’s suggestion, installed Malwarebytes, which is FREE. Haven’t had a problem since. I’m surprised your software doesn’t catch the FB bugs. Again – I think computers often have a mind of their own and run differently for different people.
