Happy Birthday to a Princess!

LATE BREAKING NEWS – 04 May 2015

The name of the Princess of Cambridge has finally been revealed to the world as

Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

In a touching tribute to William’s beloved family, the little girl has been named in honour of her grandfather, her grandmother and her great-grandmother.

Announcing the name in a statement this afternoon after days of speculation, Kensington Palace said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

‘The baby will be known as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.’

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been delivered of a baby girl on 2 May 2015 in London. Hooray! I’m glad it all went well and that it’s a girl, because I read that is what they were hoping for.

Let me say, I am not a star-struck Royal Follower – not much anyway. In fact, it may surprise you to hear I am in favor of doing away with the Royal Family altogether in Britain! But on the other hand, they pull in tourist money for the country, so there’s that. But they sure spend their fair share of it! I do go along with Prince Charles’ idea to “downsize” the actual Royal Family members who are supported by the people/government. Of course, his immediate family would be included in there…

So all I really wanted to say here is that I am making my suggestion/recommendation/prediction on a name for the new Princess:

“Mary Diana Elizabeth”

(This was MY guess, 2 out of 3 ain’t bad!)

Those are the names I would choose if it were up to me. Mary for the baby’s great great grandmother, Diana for her grandmother, and Elizabeth for her great grandmother. That is a pretty name, IMO, and covers all the bases. They are traditional people and seem to like keeping names in the family. And I love the name “Mary” as a first name because it’s short, simple, pretty, old-fashioned, and not too hard to mess up!

Their son, George, was probably named for Queen Mary’s husband, the King, also, so I think it would be nice to have a George and Mary in the household again!

    😦 We’re talking about a baby. Clean, untarnished, blameless, with all the wonderful potential in the world. That’s a beautiful thing.

    All children, especially those who are unable to care for themselves, deserve our support. Without that attitude, our species won’t be here long.

    Ah, so it’s a girl. I knew she was in labor but hadn’t heard about the baby being born, yet. Well, yay! And all the best to all of them!

  7. As children we looked at scrapbooks pertaining to the royal family, which we found in my Granny’s attic. No one in the family would admit to ownership! I come from a long line of people who don’t believe in public figures, so that scrapbook would have been regarded as a piece of frippery. We liked it though!
